On a U-100 insulin syringe, 2 mg of semaglutide is 200 units (more than a 1 mL syringe holds) at 1 mg/mL, 100 units at 2 mg/mL, 80 units at 2.5 mg/mL, 50 units at 4 mg/mL, 40 units at 5 mg/mL, 20 units at 10 mg/mL.
At 2.5 mg/mL, the strength most often seen on compounded labels, it is 0.8 mL, which is 80 units. Use the calculator with the strength printed on your own vial.
2 mg of semaglutide in units at every strength
| Vial strength | Volume | Units (U-100) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 mg/mL | 2 mL | 200 units (more than a 1 mL syringe holds) |
| 2 mg/mL | 1 mL | 100 units |
| 2.5 mg/mL | 0.8 mL | 80 units |
| 4 mg/mL | 0.5 mL | 50 units |
| 5 mg/mL | 0.4 mL | 40 units |
| 10 mg/mL | 0.2 mL | 20 units |

How long will my vial last?
Uses the vial and dose from the calculator above.
Real vials can hold slightly more or less than the label says, and a little is lost in the needle.

Same dose, different units
At 2.5 mg/mL, 2 mg is 80 units. Drawing those same 80 units from a 5 mg/mL vial gives 4 mg, not 2 mg. Always check the mg/mL on the vial you are using.
In July 2024 the FDA warned about dosing errors with compounded semaglutide, including mix-ups between mg, mL and units (FDA alert). The same math applies to any vial.
Questions
How many mL is 2 mg of semaglutide?
It depends on the vial: 2 mL at 1 mg/mL, 1 mL at 2 mg/mL, 0.8 mL at 2.5 mg/mL, 0.5 mL at 4 mg/mL, 0.4 mL at 5 mg/mL, 0.2 mL at 10 mg/mL.
Is 2 mg of semaglutide the same number of units on every vial?
No. The units depend on the strength printed on the vial: 200 units (more than a 1 mL syringe holds) at 1 mg/mL, 100 units at 2 mg/mL, 80 units at 2.5 mg/mL, 50 units at 4 mg/mL, 40 units at 5 mg/mL, 20 units at 10 mg/mL.
